NFL Week 8: Grand Strand & Pee Dee Player Performances

Former Wilson High great Lawrence Timmons made 8 tackles for the Steelers on Sunday, despite playing with a broken hand.

Former Marlboro County standout Robert Ayers made three tackles for the Denver Broncos in a 45-31 win over the Washington Redskins.

Ex-Wilson High great Lawrence Timmons played with a broken hand for a second straight week. Timmons made eight tackles and forced a fumble for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 21-18 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Another former Wilson High player, linebacker Justin Durant, had one tackle for the Dallas Cowboys in a 31-30 loss to the Detroit Lions.

John Abraham, who played at Lamar High and with the South Carolina Gamecocks, made two tackles including a sack for the Arizona Cardinals in a 27-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Two more players from the Pee Dee played in the game. Malliciah Goodman, who starred at West Florence High and with Clemson, had one tackle for the Falcons. Former Gamecock Cliff Matthews out of Cheraw High also had one tackle for Atlanta.

Defensive End Clifton Geathers, who played at Carvers Bay High and for the Gamecocks, made three tackles for the Philadelphia Eagles in a 15-7 loss to the New York Giants.

Former North Myrtle Beach High star Ryan Quigley punted five times for the New York Jets on Sunday in a 49-9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Quigley averaged 49.6 yards per punt, with a long of 56 yards. He also had two of them land inside the 20.

Jerome Simpson, who played at Coastal Carolina, had one catch for 18 yards for the Minnesota Vikings in a 44-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

On Thursday night, Mike Tolbert out of Coastal Carolina, helped the Carolina Panthers to a 31-13 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tolbert had four catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball seven times for 35 yards.
