NFL Week 6: Grand Strand and Pee Dee Players

Mike Tolbert caught one TD pass and ran for another in the Panthers win over the Vikings.

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Tolbert caught a 10-yard TD pass and scored on a 1-yard run in a 35-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Tolbert had eight carries for 27 yards, and caught two passes for 20 yards. Jerome Simpson, who played with Tolbert in college at CCU, made four catches for 30 yards for the Vikings.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still unbeaten with a 6-0 record. The Chiefs beat the Oakland Raiders 24-7. Ex-Conway High standout Junior Hemingway had one catch for eight yards for the Chiefs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers picked up their first win of the season with a 19-6 decision over the New York Jets. Lawrence Timmons, who played high school ball for the Wilson Tigers, made six tackles and had an interception for the Steelers. Timmons pick marked the first time this season that the Steelers had stopped an opponent in the red zone. In the same game, Ryan Quigley of the New York Jets punted seven times for an average of 44.6 yards. His long punt was 53 yards, and he had two of his kicks land inside the 20 yard line.

Former Cheraw High star Jaron Brown had one catch for five yards for the Arizona Cardinals in a 32-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
