NFL Week 2: Grand Strand and Pee Dee Players

Several players with ties to the Grand Strand or Pee Dee made an impact on Week 2 in the NFL.

Wide receiver Jaron Brown, who played high school football at Cheraw, made one catch for 11 yards for the Arizona Cardinals in a 25-21 victory over the Detroit Lions. Teammate John Abraham out of Lamar High made two tackles, including one for a loss.

Junior Hemingway made one catch for 10 yards for the Kansas City Chiefs in a 17-16 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

A pair of ex-Coastal Carolina stars got into the box score for the Carolina Panthers. Mike Tolbert rushed six times for 25 yards, and caught two passes for 18 yards in the Panthers 24-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Teammate Josh Norman made four tackles, including one for a loss.

Another former CCU star, Jerome Simpson had two catches for 49 yards for the Minnesota Vikings in a 31-30 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Former Wilson High standout Justin Durant made three tackles for the Dallas Cowboys in a 17-16 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Denver Broncos defensive end Robert Ayers, who played high school football at Marlboro County, had one tackle for loss in a 41-23 win over the New York Giants.
