College Hoops: Coastal Carolina loses at Liberty

The Liberty Flames beat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 61-57 in men's college basketball on Thursday night at the Vines Center in Lynchburg, Virginia. David Minaya led the Flames with 18 points before a crowd of 2,765.

Coastal Carolina led 29-28 at halftime. But the Chants suffered from cold shooting in the second half. CCU shot under 36 percent from the field for the game. Liberty outrebounded Coastal 37-34. The game was tied seven times. There were 17 lead changes. In the end, Liberty prevailed to improve their overall record to 13-17 and 8-9 in the Big South Conference.

Junior guard Kierre Greenwood led the Chants with 18 points. Anthony Raffa scored 15 and Chris Gradnigo finished with 11.

After losing for the fifth time in their last six games, Coastal Carolina falls to an overall record of 18-10 and 11-6 in the Big South Conference. The Chants continue on the road with a game on Saturday, February 25 in Lexington, Virginia against the VMI Keydets. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
