College Hoops: CCU loses regular season finale

Anthony Raffa's 23 points were not enough to beat Charleston Southern on Saturday.

Coastal Carolina started the last game of their regular season schedule by getting out to an 11-0 lead against Charleston Southern. But the Buccaneers rallied on Senior Day at the Buc Dome to score a convincing 75-64 win over the Chantcileers, to clinch the South Division Championship of the Big South Conference.

Coastal Carolina will host the Big South Conference Tournament at the HTC Center in Conway, South Carolina. CCU is a #4 seed in the tournament, and will play the #5 seed Liberty Fames in the first round at 8 p.m.

Anthony Raffa led CCU with 23 points. Warren Gillis ended up with 19. But Charleston Southern countered with a blistering shooting clinic from 3-point range, hitting 15 baskets from beyond the arc. Mathiang Muo led the Bucs with 17 points.

Coastal Carolina finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-14, 9-7 in conference play.
