College Hoops: CCU falls at Liberty

Kierre Greenwood scored a career-high 27 in a loss at Liberty.

The Liberty Flames defeated the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 64-56 on Saturday night at the Vines Center in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Coastal Carolina senior guard Kierre Greenwood scored the first six points of the game. He finished with a career-high 27, and eclipsed the 1,000 point barrier for his college career.

The Flames countered by going on a 14-2 run to go up by six at the ten minute mark of the first half. Coastal would never lead again.

Tomasz Gielo scored 19 points for Liberty and pulled down six rebounds. The difference in the game was field goal percentage. Liberty hit 47.6 percent from the field, Coastal shot just 29.2 percent. Even more glaring for the Chanticleers was their dismal 2-of-20 shooting from 3-point range.

Liberty snapped Coastal's three-game winning streak. The Chanticleers fall to 7-7 overall, 2-1 in the Big South Conference. Liberty improved to 5-12 overall, 1-2 in the Big South.
