College Football: Coastal Carolina 45 Western Carolina 21

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers beat the Western Carolina Catamounts 45-21 on Saturday in Cullowhee, North Carolina. It was the first meeting between the two schools. Coastal Carolina ends the regular season with a 7-4 record. It was CCU's second win over a Southern Conference team this season. The Chants defeated Furman early in the year.

Coastal Carolina won for the first time in nine games when playing on an artificial surface. Coastal quarterback Aramis Hillary completed 15 of 25 passes for 213 yards and three TD's to lead the way. The CCU offense rolled up a season-high 492 total yards.

Cheraw native and 3-time WPDE All-Zone pick Travis Small rushed 18 times for 109 yards and one touchdown. Matt Hazel led all CCU receivers with two catches for 69 yards and one TD. Akeem Wesley and Jamie Childers also had TD grabs.

The Coastal defense recorded seven sacks on the day. Philip George was the Chants leading tackler with seven and Johnnie Houston returned an interception for a touchdown. Coastal held the Catamounts to only 32 rushing yards. Western Carolina finished the season with a record of 1-10.

It was the first time since the 2007 season that Coastal Carolina ended a season with a victory. Head coach David Bennett said he was pleased with the win but disappointed with CCU's 13 penalties for 157 yards.
