College Basketball: CCU 78 Liberty 68

Chris Gradnigo scored 23 points in CCU's win over Liberty.

The Coastal Carolina men's basketball team defeated the Liberty Flames 78-68 on Saturday afternoon, before a crowd of 1,039 at Kimbel Arena in Conway, South Carolina.

Chris Gradnigo led CCU with 23 points and seven rebounds. Junior guard Anthony Raffa added 17 for the Chanticleers. Coastal took the lead for good when Raffa broke a 49-all tie in the second half with two straight baskets. Kierre Greenwood returned to the line-up after missing time with a calf strain. Greenwood responded with 11 points against Liberty.

Coastal shot 50 percent from the field and hit 8 of 18 from 3-point range. Liberty was led by Tavares Speaks with 15 points. The Flames have lost six in a row.

Coastal Carolina improved to an overall record of 7-1, 2-0 in Big South Conference play. The Chants will hit the road to take on The Citadel on Tuesday, December 6.
