Lake City freshman outfielder Shon Carson drove in two runs for the South Carolina Gamecocks, in a 9-5 victory over the Rider Broncs, before a crowd of 7,231 at Carolina Stadium in Columbia. Carson had two hits in four at bats, stole a base, and scored a run. The Gamecocks improved their overall record to 12-2. Former Conway High star Colby Holmes tossed 4.1 innings, allowed four runs, three earned, with four strikeouts, but did not figure in the decision. Joel Seddon picked up the victory in relief.
The Clemson Tigers beat the 8th ranked N.C. State Wolfpack 7-4, before a crowd of 1,877 fans at Doak Field in Raleigh, North Carolina. Thomas Brittle hit a grand slam to help Clemson improve to a record of 9-4 overall, and 2-0 in the ACC.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers beat the Harvard Crimson 10-0, with 448 in attendance, at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. CCU head coach Gary Gilmore will go for his 700th career win at the school on Sunday when the Chants host Ohio State at 3 p.m. Coastal Carolina's record this season is 6-8.
