College Baseball 5/18: CCU wins, Gamecocks and Clemson lose

The Coastal Carolina baseball team heads into the Big South Tournament as a #2 seed, following a 5-4 victory over Charleston Southern to end the regular season. Alex Buccilli led CCU with three hits and two RBI. Coastal closed out the regular season with an overall record of 35-19, 18-6 in the conference. The Chanticleers will play Longwood in the opening round on Tuesday in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The Florida State Seminoles beat the Clemson Tigers 6-1 to win the Atlantic Division of the ACC. Clemson will be the #5 seed in the ACC Tournament at Durham (NC) Bulls Athletic Park. The Tigers will play one game each against #4-seeded N.C. State, #1-seeded North Carolina, and #8-seeded Miami (FL) in that order in the ACC Tournament, which starts on Wednesday. The winner of Clemson's bracket will advance to the ACC Tournament Championship game on May 25. The Tigers' tourney schedule will be announced on Sunday morning. Clemson finished the regular season 39-17 overall, 18-12 in the ACC.

The South Carolina Gamecocks lost their regular season finale 7-2 at Mississippi State. The Gamecocks finished the regular season with an overall record of 39-16, 17-12 in the SEC. South Carolina is the #4 seed in the SEC Tournament and earned a first round bye. The Gamecocks will play on Wednesday, May 22 against either #5 seed Mississippi State or #12 seed Missouri. The SEC Tournament is double-elimination from Wednesday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday single elimination.
