Coastal clobbers Charlotte 50-25

Coastal Carolina is now 10-0 on the season.

The third ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football team pounded the Charlotte 49ers 50-25 at Brooks Stadium in Conway. The Chants are now 9-0 on the season.

Coastal rolled up 384 rushing yards against the 49ers defense, and a total of 621 net yards.

CCU running back Lorenzo Taliaferro scored three touchdowns to lead the Chants offense. Taliaferro's final score tied the Big South record for most rushing touchdowns in a season with 21.

Taliaferro had 24 carries for 139 yards. De'Angelo Henderson had 10 rushes for 117 yards and a score. Former Cheraw High star Travis Small had six carries for 54 yards.

Alex Ross completed 16-of-22 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns for CCU.

Quinn Backus led the Coastal defense with 14 tackles.

Coastal Carolina will play Charleston Southern for at least a share of the Big South Conference championship next Saturday, November 9 at 1 p.m. in Charleston. CCU and CSU are the two remaining unbeaten teams in the conference.
