Coastal Carolina wins 80-77 in OT at Charleston Southern

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers beat the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 80-77 in overtime at Buccaneer Field House in Charleston, South Carolina on Saturday night.

Kierre Greenwood hit a 3-point field goal with 23 seconds left in OT to lift the Chants to a Big South Conference victory. CCU now trails only UNC-Asheville in the conference standings. UNCA is 5-0. Coastal is now 11-4 overall. 4-1 in Big South play.

Anthony Raffa led Coastal Carolina with 23 points. Chris Gradnigo was the second highest scorer for CCU with 17 tallies. Greenwood finished with 16. Sam McLaurin scored a dozen points with a dozen rebounds.

There were 16 lead changes and the score was tied 13 times. In the end, CCU was able to overcome 18 turnovers with solid defense, holding the Buccaneers to 40 percent shooting from the field. The Chants shot a blistering 53 percent, including 6 of 12 from 3-point range.

Coastal Carolina returns to Conway on Thursday, Jan. 12 to play Gardner-Webb. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Kimbel Arena.
