Coastal Carolina still perfect with win over Hampton

#15 Coastal Carolina is 4-0 after a win over Hampton.

The 15th ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers beat the Hampton Pirates 50-17 at Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina on Saturday. CCU is the first Big South Conference team ever to score 50 or more points in back-to-back out of conference games.

Coastal Carolina (4-0) cruised to a 40-0 halftime lead against Hampton. CCU quarterback Alex Ross ran for two touchdowns and threw for another.

The Chants ran a staggering 91 plays on offense for 511 total yards. Coastal had 382 rushing yards. Lorenzo Taliaferro led the way with 14 carries for 99 yards and two scores.

The Chants offense has now scored in 22 of 23 opportunities in the red zone this season. CCU head coach Joe Moglia said, "It is the most complete effort we've had for a half."

CCU will travel to Elon, North Carolina to play the Elon Phoenix on Saturday, September 28. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
