The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football team will play the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday, November 3 in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. The Chants lead the lifetime series 7-2, but the Bulldogs upset CCU last year in Conway, 26-24. Coastal Carolina has a perfect lifetime record on the road against GW, winning the previous four meetings at Spangler Stadium.
Coastal enters the game with a 4-4 overall record, and 2-1 in Big South Conference play. Gardner-Webb is 2-6, and 1-2 in the conference. Over the years, this match-up has been fiercely contested. The average margin of victory in six of the last seven games is 3.5 points.
CCU starting quarterback Aramis Hillary is still wearing a neck brace after being carted off the field with an injury in a win over Liberty last weekend. Chants head coach Joe Moglia said that Hillary is "day to day" and that he could start on Saturday at Gardner-Webb. Moglia said that redshirt freshman back-up QB Alex Ross will be ready in case Hillary cannot play.
Coastal running back Jeremy Height is just 42 yards away from the Chants single-season record for all-purpose yards. Patrick Hall totaled 1,166 yards back in 2004.
Kickoff for the Coastal Carolina at Gardner-Webb game is set for 1:30 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.
