Clemson replaces CCU with SC State on 2014 schedule

Clemson released their 2014 football schedule on Wednesday. As expected, Coastal Carolina has bowed out of a return trip to Death Valley.

The Clemson Tigers football team released their 2014 schedule today. South Carolina State has replaced Coastal Carolina and will play the Tigers on September 6.

Late last year, Coastal Carolina expressed a desire not to play Clemson. CCU has never beaten an FBS team in seven tries. The Chanticleers lost 70-10 to the South Carolina Gamecocks last season. Clemson beat CCU 49-3 during the 2009 season.

Coastal Carolina has not announced a replacement opponent for what is now an open date for the Chants on September 6.

Clemson will open the 2014 season on Saturday, August 30 in Athens against the Georgia Bulldogs. The final game on the Clemson schedule will be against the South Carolina Gamecocks on November 29 at Memorial Stadium in Clemson.
