CCU Hoops falls short in tournament title game

Elijah Wilson scored a game-high 22 points for CCU in a losing effort.

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns beat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 73-69 in the regional championship game of the Maui on the Mainland Invitational on Sunday at The HTC Center in Conway, South Carolina.

Coastal opened the game on a 10-2 run. Elijah Wilson led CCU with 22 points. Wilson was 9-of-13 from the field. Michel Enanga was stong on the glass with 13 rebounds to go with a 7 point effort.

A 19-4 run put Louisiana-Lafayette ahead by seven points at halftime.

Louisiana-Lafayette held CCU to just 36.2 percent shooting. The Ragin' Cajuns shot 51 percent from the floor, including a red hot 46.2 percent from 3-point range.

Xavian Rimmer led Louisiana-Lafayette (4-2) with 21 points off the bench. Forward Shawn Long added 18. Four different Ragin' Cajuns finished in double-figures in scoring.

Coastal Carolina has a record of 2-4. The Chants next game will be at Clemson on Friday, November 29 at 7 p.m.
