CCU Football opens on Saturday at The Citadel

Joe Moglia has a 20-8 record in two seasons as head coach at Coastal Carolina.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football team will begin their 2014 season in Charleston against The Citadel Bulldogs on Satuday, August 30 at 6 p.m.

CCU head coach Joe Moglia enters his third season with the Chants ranked as high as 6th in the nation in the FCS national polls, and the favorite to win the Big South Conference Championship.

Coastal is coming off its most successful season in school history with a 12-3 slate in 2013.

The Chants are 6-5 lifetime in season openers. CCU is 3-4 lifetime in road season openers, and 8-8 career against teams out of the Southern Conference.

This will be the first football meeting between Coastal Carolina and The Citadel.
