Bennett holds 3 day camp, Socastee job on hold
More than 100 kids are attending David Bennett's football camp in Marion, South Carolina. The three day camp hosted by the former Coastal Carolina head coach, ends on Wednesday. Football fundamentals and life skills are being taught to the youngsters.
Bennett led Coastal Carolina to four Big South Conference football titles before he was relieved of his head coaching duties last December. He received a $925,000 buyout from CCU and recently served as a volunteer assistant on the Conway High golf team
Bennett is in the running for the Athletic Director vacancy at Socastee High. He confirmed to NewsChannel 15 that he has applied for the position and is waiting for official word. Bennett said, "I believe that (Socastee principal) Dr. Paul Browning is a wonderful innovator who loves kids."
Former CCU wide receiver Dushawn Davis was a guest speaker at Bennett's Marion camp, and Dillon All-Zone offensive lineman Bryce King, who has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks, has been helping teach proper blocking techniques.
