South Carolina boys and girls sweep Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic

The South Carolina boys and girls beat the top senior stars from North Carolina at the Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic on Saturday night at Socastee High. South Carolina won the boys game 100-96 and the girls game 90-71. It was the second straight year South Carolina has pulled off a boys and girls sweep in this best of the best from the Carolinas.

In the boys contest, Jordan Roper from Irmo led the South Carolina Stars with 26 points and was voted as the MVP. WPDE All-Hoop Zone selection Brandon Jones finished with seven points and five rebounds. Darnell Coleman from Mullins scored one point with four rebounds.

Brice Johnson from Edisto was a big force in the paint for South Carolina. He scored a dozen points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Johnson has signed with the North Carolina Tar Heels.

North Carolina was paced by Josh Smith from Olympic High with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Smith has signed with the Clemson Tigers.

3-time WPDE Miss Hoop Zone, Khadijah Sessions from Myrtle Beach High, led all scorers with 18 points as the South Carolina All-Stars beat the North Carolina All-Stars 90-71 in the girls showdown.

Marlboro County's Nikkei Blackburn scored six points and had 12 rebounds in the South Carolina victory. N'Dea Bryant from Goose Creek High was named MVP after scoring 16 points with 14 rebounds for South Carolina.
