Latta's Stanley chooses Gamecocks

Latta offensive lineman and two time WPDE All-Zoner Donell Stanley has given a verbal commitment to play for Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Stanley made the announcement on Friday afternoon at the Latta High auditorium. Stanley chose the Gamecocks over Clemson, North Carolina and Alabama. Stanley gave a verbal commitment to offensive line coach Sean Elliott and the Gamecocks staff a month ago, who kept it quiet and allowed Stanley to have his announcement in front of friends and family at Latta High.

Stanley is a 4 star prospect who is 6'4" and 330 pounds and has been on the national recruiting radar since his freshman year. He's a three sport star at Latta playing for the basketball team and first base for the state runner-up Viking baseball team.

The Vikings are off to a 4-2 start to the season after a 53-0 win over Creek Bridge last Friday night and will face the Johnsonville Flashes on the road later this evening.
