Clemson swamps Duke behind Tajh Boyd air show

Clemson QB Tajh Boyd threw five first half TD passes to lead the Tigers past Duke.

The #10 Clemson Tigers scored four first quarter touchdowns and went on to blast the Duke Blue Devils 56-20 on Saturday night at Wallace Wade Stadium, before a crowd of 31,894 in Durham, North Carolina.

Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd threw five TD passes in the first half. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 344 yards. DeAndre "Nuk" Hopkins caught three of Boyd's scoring passes, all in the first quarter. Boyd also had nine carries for 72 yards and a TD.

Clemson piled up 718 total yards of offense. Former Cheraw standout Jaron Brown had one catch for 34 yards. Ex-Myrtle Beach High star Spencer Benton punted one time for 31 yards.

On defense, Jonathan Willard from Loris made five tackles. Marlboro County's Lateek Townsend had two tackles. B.J. Goodson from Lamar High had two tackles, and Quandon Christian out of Lake View made one stop.

Clemson improved to an overall record of 8-1, 5-1 in the ACC. The Tigers will finish the regular season with three home games. Next Saturday, November 10, Clemson takes on Maryland on homecoming at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff TBA.
