Chants head to Charleston for tough test

Coastal Carolina made headlines when it shocked Clemson 69-46 on Wednesday night at the HTC Center, but the celebration didn't last long. Cliff Ellis had to get his team re-focused immediately to get set for a Saturday matchup at the College of Charleston. The Cougars, under first year head coach Doug Wojcik, have a 6-4 record, but it includes wins over big schools Baylor and Boston College. The Cougars were upset by Division II Anderson on December 13th, but Ellis says that is misleading as C of C was missing three key players in the game.
Wojcik had high praise for CCU's veteran backcourt of Anthony Raffa and Kierre Greenwood. Ellis called Cougars guard Andrew Lawrence "a pro". Lawrence played for Great Britain in the 2012 London Olympics. It's the final game for the Chanticleers before Christmas. Coastal hosts Greensboro on December 30th and then jumps into Big South play.
WPDE Sports is once again the home for the Cliff Ellis Show. The season premiere is set for January 6th. Join Coach Ellis and WPDE Sports Director Rich Chrampanis every Sunday at noon for ten straight weeks as CCU begins Big South Conference play and its quest to win the NCAA Tournament automatic bid at the Big South Tournament at the HTC Center.
