The #4 Clemson Tigers beat the South Carolina State Bulldogs 52-13 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Clemson in front of a crowd of 81,428 fans. The Tigers raced to a 24-0 lead on the way to a 2-0 start to the college football season.
Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd completed 14 of 23 passes for 161 yards and no TD passes. Boyd did score one rushing TD to put Clemson ahead 10-0 in the first quarter.
Cole Stoudt came on in relief of Boyd at quarterback. He threw three TD passes, hitting 19 of 20 for 143 yards.
Clemson's defense returned two passes for touchdowns. Martin Jenkins and Darius Robinson scored defensive touchdowns off interceptions. The second pick-6 was off a deflected pass by former Lake View High star Quandon Christian. Christian also had four tackles.
Former Wilson High quarterback Richard Cue threw a TD pass to Tyler McDonald who scored both of South Carolina State's touchdowns.
Clemson will play the North Carolina State Wolfpack in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Carter-Finley Stadium.
