Zoey’s Berry Special Smoothie
Every Sunday Whip Up Your Weekend is on Good Morning Carolinas.
On April 2, Chef Blount's daughter, Zoey Blount made her famous Berry Special Smoothie.
Chef Blount said, "sometimes you buy berries at the peak of ripeness from your local market and bring them home to enjoy. Unfortunately, all the berries don’t get eaten before they start to get mushy. So we came up with a great idea for another life for those berries destined for the trashcan. Hull and wash the over ripe berries and place them in a freezer bag in the freezer. Once frozen you can consolidate and wait until you have enough for a wonderful smoothie treat."
1 ½ cups frozen hulled left over strawberries
½ cup vanilla yogurt
½ cup lowfat milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 TB local honey
1. Blend strawberries, raspberries, milk, yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract in a blender until smooth.
2. Pour into a glass and enjoy! Or you can pour this into a Freezy Pop Tray and place a stick in it for an after school snack.
