Whip Up Your Weekend: Wings over South Carolina, (Sydney Glenn/WPDE)

The Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show is in town this weekend, so Chef Geoff shares his Wings Over South Carolina recipe.

Ingredients for wings:

  • ¾ cup flour
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 20 raw chicken wings

Ingredients for sauce:

  • ½ cup mustard
  • ½ cup cider vinegar
  • 1 TB brown sugar
  • 1 TB melted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce

Directions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and lightly grease with cooking spray. Place the flour, dry mustard, pepper, garlic powder, and salt into a resealable plastic bag, and shake to mix. Add the chicken wings, seal, and toss until well coated with the flour mixture. Place the wings onto the prepared baking sheet, and place into the refrigerator. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  3. Whisk together the melted butter and hot sauce in a small bowl and reserve. Bake wings in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes. Turn the wings over and bake until the chicken is no longer pink in the center, and crispy on the outside, about 25 more minutes. Dip the wings into the sauce mixture, and place back on the baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes. Serve with additional sauce.
