Whip Up Your Weekend: four ingredient tempura, (Sydney Glenn/WPDE)

Sunday marked National Tempura Day. You can celebrate with this simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 pinch baking soda

Directions:

  • Beat the egg and icy cold water together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the flour and baking soda to the egg mixture and mix together quickly. Do not over-beat mixture.
  • Use to coat fish, prawns, scallops or vegetable slices.
  • Always make sure your frying oil is very hot (375 works well) , I use canola oil.
