Woman killed in house fire
UPDATE: A woman in her mid-50's appears to have died Friday night from injuries suffered in a fire at a home on Sunny Bank Street in Bennettsville, according to Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown.
The woman has been identified by the Marlboro County Coroner as Rosa Lee Cooper.
The home was covered in flames by the time fire crews got to the scene, according to Lt. Larry Turner with Bennettsville police.
Turner adds firefighters found Cooper's body inside a front room of the home after the fire was contained and under control.
There was no power to the home according to Turner.
An autopsy is being performed on Cooper's
body at the Medical University of South Carolina to determine an exact cause of death.
Officials say it appears a candle may have started the fire.
The State Law Enforcement Division is assisting Bennettsville police in this investigation.
