Three people were injured, and a home is completely destroyed after it caught fire around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Georgetown County Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hucks.
The home on Jackson Village Road in the Plantersville Community was a wood frame single-family house.
When firefighters got to the scene, the home was covered in flames.
Four people were home at the time of the fire. Everyone was able to get out, but three people were injured. One person was flown to Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, GA, according to Hucks.
Hucks says the fire began to spread through grass to another structure. One wall of an adjacent home did sustain some heat damage.
Firefighters with the Georgetown County Fire Department were able to put the fire out before anything else was damaged.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the fire, but Hucks says arson is not suspected. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office is also investigating the incident.
