SLED confirms recovery of child in NC Amber Alert

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) says 5-year-old child who was at the center of a North Carolina Amber Alert earlier today has been found safe.

The Fort Bragg Police Department was searching for 5-year-old Teamani Leshay Gerald, after they say her non-custodial mother, Alexis Gerald, abducted her Thursday morning.

They asked for assistance from South Carolina's State Law Enforcement Division when police learned the Geralds could be in the Charleston area.

SLED Agents found Teamani Gerald in the Ferndale Subdivision off Rivers Avenue in North Charleston, just before 4 o'clock this afternoon. Agents spotted the dark-colored Suburban that was identified in the Amber Alert near Rivers Avenue and initiated a traffic stop.

SLED says from the traffic stop, agents found out where the child was and with the help of North Charleston Police, went to pick her up.

SLED says Teamani's mother was not at that location, and upon learning of the NC Amber Alert, went to the North Charleston Police Department to give officers information.
