Manhunt over in Florence County, suspect caught

Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff's Office said they caught a man Saturday afternoon wanted for questioning in a missing person's case following a two day manhunt.

The Florence County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Larry Coles, 31, of Johnsonville. He was charged with Second Degree Burglary and Simple Larceny.

Coles was caught near Highway 378 and Shady Road between Pamplico and Johnsonville.

The manhunt first began around 10 a.m. Friday morning and was called off around 6:30 p.m.

Deputies said they stopped a car the man was riding in, and he ran out of the car and into the woods.

Officers headed back to the area around 7:30 Saturday morning after reports of some burglaries in the community.

Deputies and bloodhounds were able to track down the suspect with the help of Florence County Central Dispatch and Highway Patrol.

The investigation is ongoing.
