Hunter who died identified as captain for Dorchester County

A hunter who was found dead in Georgetown County Monday has been identified as James Nettles, 44, of Summerville, according to Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson.

Preliminary autopsy results show that Nettles had an enlarged heart and a history of hypertension which could have led to an irregular heartbeat, Johnson said.

There are no signs Nettles died of anything other than natural causes, but the investigation is ongoing. Final autopsy results are due in about a month.

Nettles was a captain for the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.
