FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Wreaths are being placed on graves at the Florence National Cemetery to honor military veterans during the holiday season.
The Morning News of Florence reports (http://bit.ly/J1CzBQ ) that Saturday's event begins at 11:45 a.m. with the participation of the Greenwood Elementary School Chorus.
The group Rolling Thunder SC4 is coordinating the event. They are also calling attention to prisoners of war and those still missing in action at the ceremony.
The effort is backed by the national group Wreaths Across America, which began in 1992 at Arlington National Cemetery. The group helps coordinate wreath events at more than 130 national and state veterans' cemeteries.
