The American Red Cross is helping a family whose home was heavily damaged in a fire Saturday morning in Horry County.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire around 10:15 a.m.
When crews arrived on scene heavy smoke was coming from the roof of the home, according to Brian VanAernem with HCFR.
It took about 20 firefighters to get the fire under control.
VanAernem said food was cooking on the stove and was forgotten about which caused the fire to start in the kitchen.
Willow Springs Road in Horry County was shut down for about two hours, but is now back open.
He said no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
