Florence County offices closing for the eclipse

All Florence County offices will close at noon on Monday, August 21, due to the total solar eclipse, according to a release from county administration.

The closure is to ensure "the safety and well-being of citizens and employees," the release said.

Earlier this week, the state issued a memo saying that closings were not necessary for the eclipse.

The upcoming eclipse "while historic, does not constitute a state of emergency," the letter from Kim S. Aydlette, Director of the Division of State Human Resources, said.

The memo came in response to many questions about county closings for the eclipse.
