      Buying booze with taxpayer money

The federal government bought nearly $1.3 million of alcohol in 2013, according to spending records.

That averages out to $50,000 a month for wine, beer and liquor, nearly quadruple the money spent in 2005.

The State Department alone blew through $180,000 for liquor right before last year's federal government shutdown.
