Woman shows up at school for help, staff locks doors

A woman showed up at Socastee Elementary school around 1:45 p.m., emotionally distraught and speaking only Spanish, according to Horry County Schools spokesperson Teal Britton.

School officials got a translator and were able to determine that the woman was saying she'd been physically assaulted by a man, who was in a car in the parking lot. It is not clear if the man is her husband or boyfriend.

School officials went out and told the man to leave and then locked the doors of the school as a precaution.

Britton says no assault occurred on the property.
