Woman shot at Inlet Square Mall

A gun went off accidentally and shot a woman in the leg at Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

It happened just outside of where a Veteran Pinning Ceremony was about to start at the Veterans Services Fair being held at the mall. The woman volunteers with the Honor Flight program that raises money to send World War II Veterans to Washington, DC to see their memorial.

The woman was bandaged up in the mall. Police say her injuries do not seem to be life-threatening.

A woman close to the victim tells us the bullet entered through the woman's right leg, went clean through, and entered the left leg.

We're told doctors are leaving the bullet in the woman's leg for the time being. She is expected to be kept in the hospital overnight.

The woman said it sounded like a balloon bursting, and then she noticed blood coming from her leg and realized she'd been shot.

Police are questioning a different woman in connection with the shooting. They don't know yet if any charges will be filed.

We'll post more information as we get it.
