Woman shocked by power line while trying to help grandson

A woman in her 70's is being treated for burns to her feet and ears after being shocked by a downed power line. She was trying to help her grandson following a wreck Monday afternoon on Petty Road in Florence County, according to South Lynches Fire Chief Sam Brockington.

Brockington said the woman heard her grandson's car crash into a utility pole in front of her home.

She ran outside to help him and didn't see the downed power line, Brockington said.

The woman was airlifted to McLeod Regional Medical Center and then flown to the Augusta Burn Center.

Her condition has not been released.

Brockington said the woman's grandson was hurt in the crash and is in stable condition at the hospital.
