A 50-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed Thursday night.
The fatal hit and run happened on Tanyard Street in Timmonsville around 9:15 Thursday night, according to LCpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken identified the victim as Veronica Damon.
Damon 's boyfriend says she was walking home from taking care of her grandmother when she was hit.
The driver of the 2003 Oldsmobile that hit Damon has been indentified as Zacchaeus Morris, according to SCHP.
The 19-year-old left the scene of the accident but then returned to talk to investigators, added Collins.
He is being held at the Florence County Detention center, charged with Felony Driving Under the Influence and Leaving the Scene of a Collision Involving Death.
An autopsy will be performed on Damon Friday morning.
