A woman in a power wheelchair was trying to cross Mr. Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach about 11 a.m. Wednesday when she was hit by a light-colored van, police say.
Deborah Johnson, 53, from Myrtle Beach, died Wednesday evening at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center of a head injury, according to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge.
Johnson was crossing the road, when a van turning left on to Mr. Joe White hit the wheelchair.
The chair tipped over and Johnson was thrown out.
It happened in front of Bay Pointe Apartments, between Grissom Parkway and Kings Highway.
The collision appeared to have happened at a low speed, according to police.
No charges will be filed, said Lt. Doug Furlong.
