Woman found dead near Little Pee Dee River died from blunt force trauma

Tina Scott Locklear, 40, the woman found dead near the Little Pee Dee River in Dillon County last Thursday, died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, according to Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley.

Someone looking for cans found her body partially submerged in the Little Pee Dee River.

Deputies say Dan Howard Cook, Jr. killed Locklear at a Marion County home Wednesday night and dumped her body in the river in neighboring Dillon County.

Cook is charged with Murder and is awaiting a bond hearing at the Marion County Detention Center.

The State Law Enforcement Division is helping in this investigation.
