Horry County police arrested a woman for hitting and choking a 12-year-old boy.

They charged Elizabeth Williams, 40, with Cruelty to Children.

Police say when they got there around midnight Monday, she was on the back porch yelling at the boy.

He told them she was angry with him for being up so late. When he went to get electronic games, he says she came after him.

He had several scratches on his hand, police say.

Williams denies hitting the boy.

He was placed in protective custody with the Department of Social Services.
