Woman accused of beating boyfriend to death with two by four

Mary Davis,41, is charged with murder in the death of her boyfriend, Ronald Ellerbe,49, after police say she hit him repeatedly with a two by four board outside a home on Clemmons Street in Cheraw Saturday night.

Davis and Ellerbe got into an argument following a party at the home and that's when she hit him with the board and went inside her house, according to Cheraw Police Chief Jay Brooks.

Brooks says Ellerbe tried to get inside, but Davis wouldn't let him in.

A neighbor called 911 early Sunday morning after seeing Ellerbe lying in the yard.

He was pronounced dead at the Chesterfield General Hospital emergency department, Brooks said.

An autopsy is underway to determine his exact cause of death.

Davis' brother, Timothy Kelly, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

Both are being held in the Chesterfield County Detention Center.

This is the first murder in Cheraw since 2005, according to Brooks.
