Woman abducted, found dead in Kershaw County

      I nvestigators say a Chesterfield County woman who was abducted Monday has been found dead in Kershaw County.

      Deputies say Beverly Hope Melton, 30, of Jefferson called her grandmother around noon to say she thought someone was following her from Jack's Store in Jefferson.

      Investigators say her grandfather went to look for her and found Melton's car in a ditch on the side of a road between Jefferson and Chesterfield. Investigators say it looked like the car had been forced off the road.

      They say she was kidnapped from Angelus Road.

      Deputies tell us they got surveillance video from Jack's Store and saw a man following Melton. They tracked down the 23-year-old hours later and deputies say he told them he raped and killed Melton in neighboring Kershaw County.

      We're waiting to learn the suspect's name. He's expected to face kinapping charges in Chesterfield County and a charge of murder in Kershaw County.
