Red Cross workers are providing emotional support, handing out cleaning supplies, and feeding residents. The Red Cross has taken 194 residents through its registration process and has provided over 1,500 meals and 3,280 snacks and drinks.
The shelter at Beach Church, at 557 George Bishop Parkway, will be open today until 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Any resident not able to come to the shelter, can call the Red Cross at (843) 477-0020 for assistance.
Monetary donations can be made to the American Red Cross at redcross.org, by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS, or by mail to the American Red Cross, 3531 Pampas Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
The Red Cross recommends donating other items, like clothing and furniture, to its partner agencies, Goodwill and Salvation Army, or other local non-profit organizations in the community that accept non-cash items.
