Why are men carrying designer purses? The motivation behind the bags
Men are carrying designer hand bags as part of a fundraiser happening this week, and because of its success, the North Myrtle Beach Women's Club has doubled the number of organizations they're able to support.
A collection of celebrity handbags will be featured at Purses with Purpose, an event Jeri McDowell created four years ago that's hosted by the North Myrtle Beach Women's Club to raise money for area non-profits.
"I love giving back, and so do all the women in our group," said McDowell.
The group includes Kowena Suckstorf, who is in charge of finding men to model the bags.
"They range from bankers to doctors to real estate agents, they just come from everywhere," said Suckstorf. "We've got interior designers, jewelry designers, you name it, they do it."
Including our very own Good Morning Carolinas anchor Matt Barbour.
ABC 15's Allyson Floyd donated one of the purses, which are given by local and national celebrities.
Jeri picks out the perfect pocket book for Matt and the other models, counting on these community figures to help the community.
"We just love to give back to the community," said McDowell. "We see the need out there, and without organizations like ours, those needs don't get fulfilled."
The North Myrtle Beach Women's Club supports 20 non-profit organizations with donations raised by Purses with Purpose, which is happening Thursday, April 7, at the Marina Inn Grande Dunes.
