Robert L. Weaver, the president of Weaver Engineering in Florence, has been arrested after the South Carolina Department of Revenue says he did not turn over state taxes withheld from employees at Weaver Engineering.

Weaver has been charged with five counts of Failure to Collect or Pay Over Tax, according to a news release from the SCDOR.

According to the release, for tax years 2008 through 2012, Weaver failed to remit a total of $84,826.38 in state taxes withheld from wages earned by employees to the SCDOR and an investigation revealed Weaver was aware tax payments were not being made.

If convicted, Weaver could be fined up to $50,000, imprisoned not more than 25 years, or both. Weaver is being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
