Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge closed due to shutdown

The government shutdown has caused national parks and wildlife areas to close, including the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge, which is located in the northeastern part of Georgetown County and stretches all the way to Conway.

Public access to service properties are prohibited, and fish and wildlife management activities and public programs are canceled due to the shutdown, according to a press release.

The "Take a Kid Mountain Biking" event will now be held this Saturday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., beside the Barc park in the Market Common in Myrtle Beach.
