Virginia man dies after being pulled from the ocean in Pawleys Island

Update: The autopsy performed Tuesday revealed that Jennings died from drowning, according to the Georgetown County Coroner.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson says Robert Jennings, age 68, of Danville, VA died Monday after he was pulled from the ocean in Pawleys Island.

Coroner Johnson says the man was found unresponsive in the water and had been pulled from the water from bystanders. Johnson says bystanders performed CPR on Jennings until medics arrived on the scene.

Midway Fire Rescue were called to the scene around 3:30 pm and transported Jennings to Waccamaw Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Johnson says an autopsy will be performed Tuesday to determine an exact cause of death.
