COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Students who haven't been able to complete their college degrees are getting a new option through the University of South Carolina.
USC President Harris Pastides and Chancellor Susan Elkins are officially launching the South Carolina Palmetto College program Thursday at the Statehouse in Columbia.
The online program allows residents a way to earn a bachelor's degree at home after they have completed two years of credits in the classroom.
USC officials have touted the program as a way for people to finish their studies without relocating. The course work is expected to attract people with interests in business, criminal justice, elementary education, nursing and organizational leadership.
